The Christian Church in the Upper Midwest gets to host General Assembly in 2019!
We are very excited to showcase the hospitality and professionalism of our Region.
We hope that you will find a way to join us this summer. There are many opportunities to help. Please take a moment to consider your own gifts and find a need that would put those gifts to use.

Upper Midwest Church Contest
We want to astound the General Church with an overwhelming presence of Disciples from the Upper Midwest. The Local Arrangements Committee is hosting a friendly competition to see which of the Upper Midwest churches can bring the most members to General Assembly 2019. The competition will be based on the ratio of attendees to members, so small churches and large can compete alike!
The winning congregation will get to celebrate with a guest preacher and fellowship dinner hosted by the Christian Conference Center!!
Some things to keep in mind as you plan to attend:
-
Worship is free to attend each evening regardless of registration, but there are many fantastic activities and events that are included with registration.
-
Sunday, July 21, 2019 will be Upper Midwest Day at Assembly. We will be hosting a gathering of disciples from across our Region on this day and hope to connect with each other and celebrate our Region in a very visible presence.
-
Volunteers get a discounted rate for Assembly—there are lots of opportunities, big and small. Sign up today and then register with the discount!
-
Don’t let lodging costs keep you from coming! We will be working to offer Disciples hosts in the Des Moines area for those who are interested.
Every Disciples of Christ Congregation is eligible to send voting delegates in addition to their pastor (or any other clergy from their church). For details to determine the number of delegates and the process for your church, visit here.
Host an Attendee Overnight
Many of our smaller churches are unable to send their pastor or a delegate to Assembly due to the cost of overnight lodging. We hope to make Assembly accessible to everyone!
If you live nearby and are willing to host an attendee or a family, please use the button below as a resource to connect you to someone in need.
Volunteer Teams
Want to volunteer, but wish there was a way to do so with you best friends from church?
We've got lots of opportunities where teams can sign up and work side by side. Look for these opportunities to sign up together: Registration, Worship Offering Counters, Transportation, Serving Communion, Security, Preschool Program, School-age Children Program.
