2009 School For Congregational Learning "Spirit: Past, Present, & Future" ...Coming August 29, 2009 with 48 invigorating workshops - Register early to guarantee your choices. School for Congregational Learning (SCL) is an annual event for everyone. Located at Valley Southwoods High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, Disciples gather together from all over the four-state Region for learning, inspiration, and connecting with other congregations. The $30 registration fee (same as previous years!) provides you with inspiring worship, an intuitive keynote speaker (Dr. Dick Hamm, former General Minister), two personal choices from 48 workshops, continental breakfast, a yummy lunch, free childcare, and fun! Plans Afoot for New Church in Rochester, MN-The New Church Unit asks for your prayers as they get excited about starting a new church in Rochester, MN. Its just the beginning, but they have made a plan and believe that as Disciples Together in the Upper Midwest we can really make this happen. For now what we need is prayers from all.(more...)
Pentecost Offering Received May 24 and 31- Each year the New Church Movement is supported by funds raised by the annual Pentecost Offering. This special-day offering provides support for new church planter training, coaching, special project grants and additional services to support the New Church Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). And, importantly, half of the money collected through the Pentecost Offering remains in the Upper Midwest Region to benefit new churches, such as the one currently being planned in Rochester, MN. While Pentecost special offering will be received in most congregations on Sunday May 24 and Sunday, May 31, donations can be made throughout the year.
